Leg pain: Causes, Symptoms and Diagnosis

Pain in trouble is one of the frequent and most complex symptoms in patients of all ages. The most common cause is severe problems with the spine or pelvis, and small symptoms require immediate treatment.

Causes of hip pain

Diseases of the spine, which affect the nerve roots of the lumbar spine. Complicated by intervertebral hernia osteochondrosis causes a fairly vivid picture of pain, numbness, and light tingling in the thigh area. Usually, pain proceeds with seizures until the patient consults the doctor and resolves his problem. These problems usually occur in young and middle aged 15-50 years.

Diseases of the hip joint. Pain in the hip occurs with movements or loads on the joint. A characteristic feature for this problem is the limitation of mobility. When trying to spread legs, the joints are blocked and further movement is not possible.

Different length of legs. Sometimes, even in adulthood, patients can find out that there are different lengths of legs. This can be determined by lying on the back, looking at the heels or by conducting special measurements. Symptoms begin with a slight limping and pain in the thigh, which leads to a skew of the entire body, different height of the shoulders, a skewing of the neck, etc. With the correct diagnosis, the problem can be completely solved. Often in practice, one can come across a skewed pelvis that causes a false shortening.

Diagnostics

Syndrome of Piriformis muscle, infringement of sciatic nerve. The most frequent syndrome, causing pain in the hip, buttocks. The pain arises inside the area between the sacrum and buttock. It is painful for a patient to sit, is strengthened by movement, with time, numbness of the foot arises, and its volume decreases. Changes are accompanied by blockage of the sacroiliac joint, changes in gait, etc. The problem occurs against a background of serious problems with the spine or pelvis.

Syndrome of the arachnid-lumbar muscle. The pain spreads on the front surface of the thigh, begins in the abdomen, less often in the depth of the loin, from the inside. If pain occurs on the right side, then it can be confused with appendicitis. Women can appear during intercourse. The syndrome is accompanied by rectification of the lumbar lordosis, periodic pain in the lower back. If you do not treat this problem, the muscle keeps the hip joint in constant tension and its destruction occurs, the amount of cartilage decreases, and arthritis occurs.

Syndrome of the canal. Sharp pain gives in the groin and the inside of the thigh.

Disease of Bernhard-Roth, paresthetic mealgia. Dull pain in front of the thigh, which is strengthened when trying to press a bent leg to the stomach.

Sciatica, sciatica, lumboschialgia. A kind of pain that starts at the waist and intensifies in the hip area.

Other lesions of nerves, muscles, blood vessels, hips.

Pain in the right and left thigh, symmetrical pain.

The side of the lesion may also indicate the cause of the pain. If the pain occurs on the right or left side, it says that the problem is in the lumbar, pelvic parts or leg.

If the pain occurs symmetrically, occurs simultaneously in the same areas, then it indicates the diseases of the central nervous system (brain) or systemic diseases (diabetes mellitus), autoimmune diseases, varicose veins, tumors, etc.

If you have pain, without knowing the cause of the symptoms, do not self-medicate. The use of pain medication is not recommended, as it leads to a chronic course of the disease. If there is numbness, tingling of the skin, weakness of the muscles – immediately call an ambulance.
